Netflix recommendations: docs

I have been loving documentaries lately. That, along with standup-comedy, is the main reason I love having Netflix. Before I even had Netflix I’d already seen the documentaryĀ Jesus Camp, which I’m sure I’ve talked about on here. In the past feew weeks or months I’ve watched some more documentaries on Netflix that I feel are worth talking about and recommending to you guys.

Matt Shepard is a friend of mine –Ā A 1,5-hour long documentary about the story of Matt Shepard, a young gay man who was brutally attacked to death back in 1998. This documentary talks about his personal story, but also (and maybe more importantly) reminds us to keep the discussion on the LGBT+ community’s position in society open. Clearly acts of hate towards people who are different have unfortunately not disappeared, and this is a good reminder of just that. It also gives you a view inside the grief that the people in Matt’s life still feel to this day.

Cowspiracy –Ā I feel like this Ā doesn’t even need a big explanation since pretty much everyone who has Netflix or is interested in global warming and/or agriculture has probably already watched this one. But just briefly, this is a documentary about the extreme harm that agriculture does to our earth, and what an enourmous effect it has on global warming. It focuses a lot on how this issue is extremely well hidden behind big corporations; no one really likes to acknowledge the issue. It’s definitely a very interesting look at the corrupt circumstances surrounding this issue. Earns a few extra points from me because the numbers are displayed in different graphs and images so you don’t just hear loads of numbers, but can actually picture them and see them.

Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer –Ā This one is a lot like those normal documentaries about killers, which there are a lot of. There are however a few things that stand out to me. Number one is the fact that this is about the first female serial killer in the USA. She is also very much involved in this documentary, which makes it a lot more interesting than just a regular documentary where other people are solely telling the murderer’s story. This documentary even gives you a look at some things that I didn’t even think would be allowed to be filmed. Such things are most of the trials in court, interviews with Aileen in jail, and so on. A very interesting look at a major case.

These are just a few, I’ll probably do a post later, once I’ve seen more great once. Definitely check these ones out for now though! x

2016: the great year

I feel like I am obsessing over this new year. I love it though. I feel so positive. Today I have been happy for no reason, I didn’t do anything, I didn’t even see anybody, and I still went to bed with the biggest smile on my face (and am still smiling writing this). I did talk to a special person today, but that was only a little part of my amazing mood. I can already feel the power of 2016 kicking previous years’ butts! sending positive vibes to all of you, xxx.

I’m back home!

…and I absolutely hate it. At the moment at least, lol. It’s freezing here and there’s so much snow, and it’s been like a 40c decrease in temperature from Gran Canaria to here. Tomorrow or at least on Thursday I’ll be back to my routines though, so then it won’t feel as bad anymore I think. This has been the toughest comeback from a vacation, I can already tell after just half a day. Hopefully I wake up tomorrow feeling refreshed and open to accepting these “new” conditions. Here are a few pictures from the trip. Will definitely be posting more, and my instagrams are already filled with pictures from there (@klaraemiliaa and @klarasphotography). xxx

Update: instagram

Hi! During my vacation here on Gran Canaria I have not been active on my blog. I will get back to it when I get back from my trip (at the latest). I might feel inspired to blog earlier, but for now I am enjoying my vacation and not focusing on anything else. I’m also having minimal screen-time. If you do, however, want to see updates on a daily basis, feel free to follow my two instagram accounts: @klaraemiliaa and @klarasphotography. There are a few pictures up daily. I won’t be posting every single photo on the blog, so that’s also a more exclusive look at my vacation. I’m sorry about this blog being quiet, but I’m actually not sorry for taking downtime to enjoy my relaxing life. We’ll be back at it next week. Then I’ll also explain why I all of a sudden have a photography instagram as well! It’s more of a story than you might think! xxx

Sarah Rae Vargas

Whilst I keep posting my transformation motivation posts I also want to make a few other things clear. I don’t feel like there’s anything wrong with being fat (if you’re feeling well), and I don’t consider it ugly. The thing for me is how it feels for me personally. I can look at a fat person and be like “damn she looks good!”. At the same time though, I don’t want to be like her. Being fat does not feel good for me. I’m sure I could look fucking bomb while being fat, I think I’m pretty goodlooking right now, but I don’t feel great on the inside. I want to have more selfcontrol, I want to reach goals I’ve set for myself, I want to push myself, I want to feel healthy, and most of all I just want to feel good about myself. I want to take my clothes off and be like YES GIRL. I want to be comfortable on the beach, posting a selfie with not just my face in it, and I want to be comfortable with a lover.

I know fat people can look good in a swimsuit on the beach, and I will like the shit out of your pictures, I just don’t feel comfortable with myself. Sarah Rae Vargas is someone who has helped me a lot with that. And I hope that you understand, and that I never forget, how big of a role model she is for me. If/WHEN I lose the weight she will still be my biggest inspiration, because she is bodypositivity to me in a nutshell. Also she’s hoooot! Definitely check out her Youtube and blog. xxx

Dinner tradition

We went to a dinner with my friends from Highschool, and basically it was great. We went to Mamma rosa for dinner and then to a bar for drinks and chats. Right now my friends from highschool are my most important friends, so it was great cathing up. Do you still keep in contact with your friends from highschool or school in general? xxx

Drinks

I ordered a few things from a store called Fitnesstukku like a week ago and they arrived yesterday. I got two different kinds of drinks. One is called BCAA by the brand NOCCO (No carbs company). So obviously that one has no carbs, and also no fats or sugar. It’s lowcalorie (16kcal/330ml)and has 180mg of caffeine. It contains vitamin B6 and B12.

The other drink I got is called Celsius. It is also low-cal (4kcal/355ml). It is more of a vitamin drink so it has vitamins C (60mg!!), B12, B6 and B2. It also has 200mg caffeine. 0 grams of protein, sugar, fat, carbs. The Celsiusdrinks are greentea based, so that’s great as well.

I got the BCAA drink in the Red berries flavor, and Celsius in two flavors; orange and peach&mango. So far I’ve tasted the red berry one and the orange one. Delicious! I like the Celsiusdrinks a bit more because they have the green tea. I usually don’t love green tea, but the base is just better with that.

Speaking of green tea I also got Green tea extract capsules. I don’t like drinking tea, especially not green tea, but it is so good for you. So I’m trying these capsules. They’re a natural antioxidant, and also a food supplement. I’m really just trying them out to see if they help me in any way, they’re supposed to be good for digestion and help with weightloss. I’m obviously still leading a healthy lifestyle, eating and excercising, this is just something a little extra.  I’ll let you read the back of the package if you want to know more, and I’ll keep you posted on how I feel about them. Do you have any tips regarding these kinds of products? I’d love to try more new things. xxx

Avocado&chicken

I made a simple, delicious (although somewhat unattractive) dinner today. I’m eating healthy, and loving it. I haven’t really craved anything unhealthy, except that I ate a few sugarfree pastilles today. But I’ve been good with meals. This meal is just marinated chicken and avocado (if any of you were wondering). Hope you had/have a great day! xxx

Weird workout tip #1

I have a very strange workout tip to share with you guys. Some might think it’s a bit extreme. I have done a few workouts using this tip and have noticed it really works for me. This does not work for everybody, I’m aware, but for me it’s been good.

A big part of working out and eating good (for me at least) is to stay healthy, be like a parent for your body (strict, but out of love), and feel mentally good and proud of yourself. For me it helps to not only acknowledge the great things I’m doing, but also the things I’m not doing; and for me that is mostly eating bad stuff. It’s hard for me to cut out bad stuff, so now that I somewhat have done that, I like showing myself that I’m strong.

So, my strange tip is looking at pictures of bad foods online while eating a healthy snack/meal or excercising. I have done it during both. When I did a cardio workout a moment ago, I was running in place and while I was doing that I searched for food on Weheartit. It makes me feel good to acknowledge that “hey, this is what I could be doing to my body right now, but instead I’m being strong and running”. The same goes for snack/meal times. If I eat a big plate of veggies, I like comparing what I’m eating to pictures online. I know exactly what that burger tastes like in that photo, but I feel strong for eating the better option instead.

I think this is something that’s going to motivate me in the long run. I’m excited. xxx

Yesterday

This week has been so great. It keeps getting better though, tomorrow I’m babysitting my favorite child ever, and this whole weekend will be spent with family. Haven’t been home in about five weeks or something.

Yesterday was a sort of pubcrawl event in Turku. One of my best friends came from Helsinki and we partied with our original highschool group of (girl)friends. It was so fun.
